Cute and Clever Playroom Designs You Must See

We are all pretty aware that having children comes with a lot of responsibility, but were you really ready for all of the stuff?

I wasn’t!

I remember with our first, we pretty much didn’t buy her a toy until she was 3 because friends would constantly give us used toys or she would get them as gifts.

Toy clutter can get out of hand quickly, if you let it. Now I know, most people don’t have an entire playroom dedicated to toys, but if you have the space or even a dedicated section of your home, check out these beautiful playrooms below.

Tres chic! This is truly a place for hanging out. I love that it is comfortable for children and adults alike. The built-ins and cozy bench envelop the room and provide tons of storage. You can never have enough places to keep crafts, toys, puzzles, etc. when you have multiple children.

With ample seating and beautiful beams, this is a beautiful place to play and hangout. As the kids grow older, it will be the perfect place to mature with them.

I love this colorful room and the Parisian wallpaper. For a playroom that needs to cater to children much younger, low furniture is key. This nugget couch is ideal for toddlers and you can use it as a fort or reconfigure it!

A beautiful feature wall with wallpaper and a bookshelf provides a playful pop in this girly space. I absolutely love the bean chairs and the large table, a perfect spot for arts and crafts. The hues are muted and provide a calming setting, but it maintains a colorful and fun aesthetic.

This room is set-up for slightly older children and comes with ample seating for puzzles, crafts and coloring.

If you need storage, take note of what Joni did above and consider a dresser to store things. Infusing color is done seemlessly by keeping large furniture pieces neutral so the walls and accessories can stand out.

For a versatile storage solution, have shelves that are low to the ground to make clean up a family affair. With rows of baskets you can tidy up quickly and still hide the clutter.

There may be a lot of toys here, but organizing is that much easier thanks to labels on each basket!

For a sophisticated and neutral space, consider a more monochromatic base with pops of color in artwork and toys.

In the playroom above, a large sectional with a coffee table and chairs created an entire conversational area. This room caters to adults and kids allowing for the whole family to gather. You can even spend quality time reading on this super comfy looking couch or take a nap!

Talk about a whimsical playroom with lots of height! I’m jealous of the amazing vault in this room, it makes the perfect canvas for showing off fun art, prized treasures, and a chalk board, without overwhelming the room.

The pop of color in the yellow coffee table gives this room that something special along with a surface to keep the most loved books handy.

The reading nook, the slide, the ball pit, the colors, this is a truly beautiful and fun playroom. I like the use of a pastel color palette rather than more saturated hues you might expect.

For a whimsical and unique space, there is an indoor tree house with a slide. Perhaps one of my favorite details is the way the stair case features trees for a railing, cute!

Notice how not a single inch of space is wasted under the tree house?

This room features several open and closed solutions to keep toys easy to access. This room is well organized and designed.

There is so much natural light flooding this playroom. The pattern play adds a punch of life, but it is subtle in how it is incorporated through textiles.

I can see people gathering at the table for a game or a craft while someone reads a book on the long bench seat sofa.

If you have large windows or sliders in your space, don’t be afraid of putting something in front of them like shown here.

Keeping just a few feet between the sofa and windows can also provide a spot for a narrow table to accommodate extra things. If you do have a window taking up a large wall, keep the height of furniture low so you don’t obstruct the view or the light.

Living in a rental or need storage that isn’t permanent? Think of simple ways to make bookcases or cabinets appear more substantial.

I love the faux built-ins flanking a day bed in this playroom. Don’t be afraid of having storage solutions now, while you save up for a permanent fix or wait until you better understand how you use the room.

Just don’t forget to secure your bookcases to the wall so they don’t hurt anyone!

I love how this room incorporates sconces. At night, you can hang out here without needing to use the overhead light. There is also no risk of small children playing with a lamp and injuring themselves.

If you have a focal wall with windows, consider a wrap around built-in. This design cleverly incorporates a bench so there is a place to sit and store items below the windows.

I like the use of a portrait oriented area rug to naturally draw the eyes to the windows. This really emphasizes the length of the room.

Playrooms are inherently a place to experiment with design. Take a cue from this room and be willing to mix pattern.

If you want a room to feel calming but still incorporate pattern, just keep things to the same colors and hues like shown above.

This is a true example of a space that allows parents and children to play! With a game table and shelves for storage, you can have an adult game of Monopoly or bust out Uno and play as a family.

The design is whimsical without feeling overtly juvenile. I think if you enjoy game nights this is a wonderful way to incorporate fun for everyone!

There you have it! Some amazingly cute and clever playroom ideas to help you get inspired. Which of these is your favorite?
