Cool Boys’ Bedroom Designs You Don’t Want to Miss

One of my favorite rooms to design and admire are kid spaces. Personally, I believe these are areas that can be extra playful and where rules don’t always apply. The beauty of designing a room for a child is, simple choices and swaps can make a BIG impact.

I decided to share some of my absolute favorite boy bedrooms on the internet. From saturated and moody to bright and light, there are lots of different styles and rooms to inspire you too.

Enjoy!

Rustic and Collected

What I really love about this bedroom designed by Heidi Caillier is the pattern play. there is a great balance of color and neutrals. Everything works together and nothing steals the show. It feels really effortless and that makes for great design.

Little's Lodge

There are so many things I admire about this room. Firstly, I love a good wall treatment.

Secondly, I love the way this room feels young, but still age appropriate for both children.

One detail I enjoy, is the incorporation of shades and curtains, providing a practical way to block out light when kids need sleep.

I love the dark moody blue on the walls and the very thoughtful way April made this space feel like it could be in a cabin, without putting up logs and red flannel.

Brotherly Love

Boys just seem to love bunk beds. I love the large pattern rug to ground this room and the use of hooks to keep blankets that may not be used every night.

The big wall has the right scale of artwork to better fill the space. That simple trick keeps everything else from feeling disproportionate.

Driving with Dinosaurs

Moving right along we have this cute, but mature version of a dinosaur room.

This room does something very clever.

We have a mixture of dinosaurs and cars.

Can you spot the way it is masterfully combined?

The artwork is the jumping off point. Not only do we have dinosaur wallpaper, but in keeping with the car theme, we have black and white checkered pillows!

Give this room the checkered flag.

The room is fun but doesn’t need loud and bold colors. This room is entirely made up of neutrals and it is still perfect for a young boy!

This just proves you don’t need lots of bright colors to make a big statement.

Making Waves

Another room that leans into a neutral and subdued palette. This bedroom from Studio McGee keeps things classic while making a few key moments stand out. With the vaulted ceilings the wallpaper really shines as it draws your eyes up to the beam and black pendant.

Personally, the use of an indoor/outdoor rug is a real win. Kids can find all sorts of ways to make a mess. A durable rug is a must with young children.

Doggone Tired

If you have a little boy that loves dogs, this is the room for him! I really love the scale of the board and batten on the walls against the wallpaper.

If you have shorter ceilings, a great trick is to take your lower wall treatment 2/3 – 3/4 of the way up towards the ceiling. This elongates the walls and makes the room feel bigger.

If you love this look, but don’t want to commit to wallpaper, consider a patterned curtain.

You could mimic this same look, but just keep your walls solid colors and bring in a fantastic print on the drapery.

Airplane Landing

I love how sweet this airplane room looks. First of all, the room has minimal clutter (big bonus).

Secondly, the theme is there without slapping you in the face.

Finally, as this boy grows, it will be easy to change out the pictures and swap the sheets for something else. This space is light and fun while maintaining a classic look.

Sophisticated Sports Sanctuary

The uber saturated wall of built-ins really captivated my heart when I saw this room.

This feels like the perfect room for a young man, but it doesn’t feel too stuffy. Is this room for a tween or a 17-year-old?

I don’t know, but that shows us how well-designed this room from Tori Rubinson Interiors truly is. Design is about infusing soul. Clearly this room was personalized to the taste of the client, but it doesn’t feel out of place in a traditional colonial home.

Take out the personal accessories and replace those sport pictures and bam!

Now you have a luxurious guest room, if needed.

Dinosaur Bones

We have another dinosaur room, but I couldn’t resist.

Like the previous Dino themed room, this incorporates a theme in a fantastic way. Just some bedding, a lamp and skeleton picture speak to the theme.

All of which, are super easy to change out as this boy gets older (if he wants to).

I like that we have a desk incorporated to one side of the bed. If space is limited this is a GREAT way to maximize a room and balance out both sides of the bed.

Farmer Blue

Can you tell I really like blue? This is such an adorable little boy bedroom. The scale of the pieces are perfectly age appropriate.

Rather than wallpaper, you can see the board and batten was paired with a solid wall color.

Such a simple thing like board and batten, makes an instant statement.

Puppy Power

Here we see the lower portion of the wall is an off white while the upper portion is a dark blue. It’s a departure from just about every room today, but I love how it works.

In fact, I would put this room in my top three out of all the bedrooms I am sharing.

An upholstered headboard, faux fur mat, woven shades, and duvet are among some of the ways texture and dimension are achieved effortlessly.

Furthermore, the bed is inviting and has the cutest stuffed dog to snuggle! My son would definitely have puppy love for this bedroom.

Travel Companion

The deep inky blue in this boy room is simply divine.

When you have enough space at the foot of the bed, a bench or chest is a great option. Here the bench doubles as storage, amazing! Even when space isn’t limited, having a piece that is multi-functional means you can get more use from it. Talk about getting more bang for your buck (yay)!

As for me, I can’t help, but love it when I can get multi-use items that are still pretty.

Finally, I have to mention the gallery wall. Walls are sometimes tricky especially over a bed.

What I love about the way this gallery wall came together is the fact that it extends beyond the bed frame. If you have a bed on a shorter wall, consider doing the same to help visually elongate the focal point of the room.

What do you think about this round-up of boy bedrooms? Which room do you love?

Hope this inspires you to make even kid spaces a beautiful part of your home!
